End of Life Vehicles

The Malta Environment and Planning Authority hereby advises that all manufacturers and importers of a vehicle(s) into Malta are required to register with the Malta Environment and Planning Authority in accordance with the Waste Management (Activity Registration) Regulations, 2007, as published by Legal Notice 106 of 2007, and submit all the relevant information. The deadline for such registration is 30 July 2010.

The Waste Management (End of Life Vehicles) Regulations, 2004, as published by Legal Notice 99 of 2004, and transposing Directive 2000/53/EC, defines a vehicle as any motor vehicle used for the carriage of passengers and comprising no more than eight seats in addition to the driver’s seat and having a maximum weight not exceeding five metric tonnes, vehicles used for the carriage of goods and having a maximum weight not exceeding 3.75 metric tones intended for use on the road, and threewheel motor vehicles, but excluding motor tricycles.
