statisticsDuring the month of February, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 525 applications and received 400 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 5,030.

Last month, the Authority processed 118 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 76 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 46 in Malta and 30 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 78 cases, 72 in Malta and 6 in Gozo. 42 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 32 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.

The Authority also received 129 calls on its 24 hour Emergency Service Number 2069 9595. Of these 51 were related to Construction Site Management issues, 33 for Littering issues, 6 for Envrionment Protection Directorate issues and 39 to illegal development.

122 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
