The project "The organization of a national meeting to review the state-of-the-art of dumping activities in Malta" was funded from the United Nations Environmental Programme / Mediterranean Action Pan (UNEP/MAP), MEDPOL Programme. This is one of the programmes within the UNEP/MAP aimed to reduce Marine pollution.
The objective of this project was to provide technical and financial assistance to MEPA to organize a national workshop on dumping activities in Malta.
As a result of this workshop, Malta is now better equipped to define legal, institutional and technical instruments and tools to facilitate the implementation of the Dumping Protocol.
The total budget for this project was €4,000. The workshop was carried out on the 17th of November 2005. Within MEPA, the project was coordinated by the Waste, Air, Radiation, Noise and Chemicals Unit with assistance from the EU and Multilateral Affairs Unit.
