During the month of March, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 371 planning applications. During the same month the Planning Directorate received 390 screening application requests while the pre-screening process for 300 applications was completed and validated. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 1,900.
Last month, the Authority processed 120 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.
During the same month, 33 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 29 in Malta and 4 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 19 cases. 6 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 13 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.
84 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
