During the month of October, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 377 planning applications. During the same month the Planning Directorate received 314 screening application requests while the pre-screening process for 280 applications was completed and validated. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 2,182.
Last month, the Authority processed 124 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 64 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 54 in Malta and 10 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 33 cases. 16 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 16 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.

63 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
