During the month of July, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 492 applications, received 295 screening requests and accepted 237. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 2,607.
Last month, the Authority processed 135 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.
During the same month, 52 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 32 in Malta and 20 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 22 cases. 9 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 12 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.
60 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
