During the month of June, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 456 applications, received 343 screening requests and accepted 371. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 2,700.
Last month, the Authority processed 92 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.
During the same month, 58 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 42 in Malta and 16 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 18 cases. 4 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 12 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.
66 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
