During the month of April, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 505 applications, received 317 screening requests and accepted 374. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 3,186.

Last month, the Authority processed 100 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 57 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 38 in Malta and 19 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 38 cases. 14 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 22 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.

83 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
