During the month of March, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 530 applications, received 370 screening requests and accepted 375. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 3,306.
Last month, the Authority processed 93 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.
During the same month, 58 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 53 in Malta and 5 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 21 cases. 8 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 10 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.
101 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
