During the month of January, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) decided 441 applications and received 251 screening requests of which 52 were accepted. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 3,773.
Last month, the Authority processed 57 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.
During the same month, 32 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 24 in Malta and 8 in Gozo. The enforcement section within MEPA closed 46 cases. 22 other enforcement cases were sanctioned by a planning permit while another 21 cases were resolved by the owners’ decision to remove their illegal development prior to commencement of formal enforcement proceedings.
431 waste carrier permits were also issued during the month by the Authority.
