statisticsThe Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) determined 497 applications in May and received 564 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,926.

During May the Authority processed 123 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 60 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 36 in Malta and 24 in Gozo.

In May 2008, 36 enforcement cases were closed, 18 in Malta and 18 in Gozo. 26 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another 10 cases were resolved since owners decided to remove illegal development and comply with enforcement notice.
