The Chairman of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, Mr. Andrew Calleja has filed a libel suit against Mr. Victor Galea, Secretary General of Alternattiva Demokratika. MEPA felt libelled by an allegation appearing on a Press Release published on Alternattiva's website on the 3rd December 2007. Mr. Calleja has requested the court to find against Mr. Galea for defamatory allegations made on the party's website in December 2007.

The press release by Alternattiva Demokratika made allegations and insinuations on he character of the Chairman which are not true and intended only to tarnish Mr. Calleja's reputation.
