This project is a Twinning project being implemented in Bulgaria under the Transition Facility 2007 programme.

The aim of this project is to achieve integrated and sustainable waste management through improvement and higher quality of the enforcement actions to ensure the compliance of the waste management activities with the requirements of the national and EU waste management legislation and to prevent the environmental pollution.

This Twinning Contract was awarded to the Austrian Federal Environment Agency (UBA).  UBA invited MEPA to include two MEPA experts in the project’s expert pool with the view of contributing to a seminar to be held as part of the Twinning activities.

Participation in this project was possible through MEPA’s Mandated Body status which enables it to provide expertise in Twinning projects.

Within MEPA, this initiative is being coordinated by the EU & Multilateral Affairs Unit.
