Ambient Air Quality Measurements in Bulgaria

This project is a Twinning project being implemented in Bulgaria under the Transition Facility 2007 programme for Bulgaria and forms part of a series of related contracts funded by Transition Facility.

The purpose of this project is to strengthen the capacity of the Bulgarian administration to guarantee good quality air monitoring data in line with the environmental protection policy.

This Twinning Contract was awarded to the Austrian Federal Environment Agency (UBA). UBA had invited MEPA to be a junior partner in the project and to field 6 short term experts with expertise in air monitoring and data management.

Participation in this project was possible through MEPA’s Mandated Body status which enables it to provide expertise in Twinning projects.

Within MEPA, this initiative is being coordinated by the EU & Multilateral Affairs Unit, with expertise being provided from the relevant MEPA units.
