Members of the public, who wish to keep up-to-date with the applications currently being reviewed by MEPA and the Biosafety Co-ordinating Committee, can register for notification alert at bcc.secretariat@mepa.org.mt, including the words "Registration for Notification Alert" in the email subject. When a new notification becomes available, the BCC secretariat will alert registered users. A deadline for submission of comments will also be given.

Public Consultation on applications for the release of GMOs into the environment by placing on the Eu market

There are currently no applications on the contained use of GMOs for public consultation.

The public is consulted in two instances on this type of application:
A. 30 days of consultation on the Summary Notification (SNIF) at the European Commission website, as soon as a new application is submitted by the applicant to a lead Member State. Written submissions should be made directly on this website by not later than the date indicated next to the particular SNIF download link, and
B. 30 days of consultation on the application itself and the assessment report of the lead Member State. The application may be inspected at the Malta Environment & Planning Authority, St. Francis Ravelin, Floriana during office hours, whilst the assessment report would be available at the European Commission website

One can subscribe to a mailing list in order to receive information about changes in the European Commission website and information on new applications available
